A blue-blooded filly who is a full sister to brilliant Bendigo two-year-old trotting winner Mojito Madness will turn heads at next month’s Nutrien Equine Standardbred Yearling Sale at Oaklands Junction.

By the highly successful Bacardi Lindy, the filly is the eighth foal of the handy racemare Sunny Folly, a daughter of the great Sundon.

Bred and part-owned by Cranbourne identity David Scott, Mojito Madness couldn’t have been more impressive winning at his debut on March 3, leading from the outset and carving out his final 800 metres in 59.7 seconds.

Sunny Folly, the dam of seven winners from eight foals, left a talented trotter in Invasive (1:57.4), the winner of 16 races including a heat of the Great Southern Star and $141,084 in stakes, and Elusive Charm, who won 10 races during her illustrious career including The Redwood. She in turn is the dam of the 2019 Victorian 2YO Trotter of the Year and Vicbred three-year-old champion Is That A Bid 1:58 ($132,380) and the Cup winner Melpark Magic 1;57 ($84,806).

Others from Sunny Folly have been the Breeders Crown heat winner Sonofpaco, Doctor Sam, Handy That, this season’s 3YO winner Silent Reverie and now Mojito Madness.

Kath McIntosh, manager of Northern Rivers Equine, which is preparing the filly, said the Bacardi Lindy-Sunny Folly filly would be one of the most admired trotting yearlings at April’s sale.

“She’s a beautiful, strong and correct filly with lovely manners,” McIntosh said.

Other members of this distinguished trotting family include the NZ Aged Mare of the Year Game Folly, the NZ 3YO Filly of the Year Arnee’s Frolic and the Victoria Derby heat winner Glamour Boy.
