Rockinwithattitude, a second crop daughter of the late Aldebaran Eagle, firmly clinched her claim as the top two-year-old filly of the season when she won the Group 1 $100,000 Aldebaran Park Vicbred Super Series Final at Melton on December 31.

It was her fourth success from her last five starts and she comfortably defeated the best two-year-olds in Victoria after leading from the outset and zipping home in 57.4 seconds.

Her mile rating of 1:57.9 for 2240 metres from behind the mobile barrier was a new lifetime mark.

The Aldebaran Park bred and owned Aldebaran Miley (Father Patrick-Mason Magic) finished third.

In 14 starts Rockinwithattitude has won nine and been three times placed for $130,000 in stakes for trainer David Miles and her large band of breeders and owners.

Earlier in the month Rockinwithattitude took out the Group 3 The Graeme Lang Aldebaran Park Mile in 1:59.1 at Bendigo.

The Aldebaran Park bred and part-owned Aldebaran Dexta, a three-year-old gelding from Aldebaran Eagle's initial crop, notched his fourth success at Globe Derby Park.

Aldebaran Zeus (Muscle Hill-Zoia Boko), a Vicbred heat winner at Melton in 1:58.6, was an unlucky third after sitting parked in the $100,000 Group 1 Vicbred Aldebaran Park sponsored final. He has banked $267,680 to date.

Resident sire Skyvalley was represented by the three-year-old winners Old Villa Boy and My Bad Habits and the four-year-old Kyvalley Honeybunny. He also figured as the damsire of the Group 3 Vicbred 2YO Silver winner Jilliby Jetpack and the Cobram victor Super Service.

Skyvalley has sired the dams of 11 winners from only 16 starters.

The Aldebaran Park bred and owned Aldebaran Tess (Muscle Hill–Solar Powered) and Aldebaran Dino (Andover Hall–Aldebaran Maori), both notched important wins in December. Aldebaran Tess won in 1:56.6 at Menangle – posting a new lifetime mark, while Aldebaran Dino scored in 1:59.2 at Melton and was placed in a heat and competed in the Group 1 final of the Aldebaran Park Vicbred series.

Dancinginthedark (2, 1:52.2; 3, 1:49.3), the fastest two-year-old trotter to come to Australia and the fourth fastest trotting stallion of all-time, continues to attract bookings and undertake his stud duties. He has a considerable number of mares with 28-day positive results to date – and with continued solid bookings his initial stud season looks promising.

Skyvalley continues his stud duties and with consistent winners on the track he maintains his reputation as a stallion of value for the breeders.

Full details re Dancinginthedark and Skyvalley, brochures and booking forms can be found on the Aldebaran Park website www.aldebaranpark.com – see the stallion section.

In the breeding barn, most of our mares have successfully foaled and we are delighted that the following mares and resultant foals in December were as follows:

  • Regal Pepperell–Skyvalley colt.
