Poster Boy, the former outstanding Victorian youngster, has dominated his more expensive peers in impressive fashion in the early two-year-old racing in Australia.

The Llowalong Farms based son of Somebeachsomewhere is the leading rookie sire in respect of stakemoney by a wide margin, the leading colonial bred sire, is second on the overall list of average earnings per starter and is fourth on the overall two-year-old stakes-earnings list.

From 13 starters he has sired four winners and four placegetters and they have earned $197,421 to date.

Poster Boy’s first crop is headed up by the unbeaten colt The Highlight Reel (1:54.7), the winner of the $250,000 Nutrien Sales Classic and the Shakamaker Classic and the richest juvenile in the country this year with a bankroll of $141,400.

Its Confidential (1:54.2), a winner of three of his four starts including a heat of the Nutrien Classic at Menangle, Cigano, a Nutrien Classic heat winner and fourth in the Final, and the filly Delulu (1:58.3), who was successful on debut in WA, have been other winners by Poster Boy from his initial crop.

Poster Boy is infusing his progeny with the same speed he displayed in his brilliant career. The Highlight Reel peeled off final quarters of 26.3 and 26.4 winning at Ballarat and Melton respectively, Its Confidential brushed his last 400 metres in 26.9 at Wagga and Cigano produced a flying 26.5 last quarter at Ballarat.

Poster Boy’s second crop of yearlings sold up to $100,000 at this year’s sales and his average sales price of $30,763 was more than six times his service fee.

As a racehorse Poster Boy was one of the most charismatic colt pacers of his era.

His brilliance, speed and courage have marked him as a champion.  He won seven Group races including the NSW Derby, Chariots of Fire, Vicbred 2YO and 3YO Finals, Victorian 4YO Bonanza and the Tatlow Memorial.

He was named 3YO Colt of the Year in 2018 and was the highest stakes earning three-year-old of his year.

In all, Poster Boy won 22 of his 30 starts and $803,310 in stakemoney and took a record of 1:49.1.

He has everything in his favour – an impeccable background of blood, he looks the part, and his first crop of two-year-olds do him full credit.

And, despite the unparalleled success of his babies, Poster Boy’s service fee for the forthcoming 2024/25 season is unchanged at $4,500 plus GST.
