The track record-breaking performance of Patched (1:58.7) at Pinjarra was the highlight of a busy month for resident Aldebaran Park stallion Skyvalley.

Coming off a 50-metre handicap, Patched lowered his own track record for the 2116-metre standing start set in 2022 by half a second, rating a slick 1:59. The gelding has now won 19 races and $181,144 in stakes.

Skyvalley led in seven individual winners for the month and is in equal fourth position on this season sires’ premiership.

Other Skyvalley winners were Highpoint (Melton), Flash Kyvalley (19 wins, $161,458, 1:56.6 at Menangle), Kyvalleyhoneybunny (1:59.3, 13 wins, $114,115), Kyvalley Anthony, Kyvalley Boomerang (1:57.4, 22 wins, $243,970) and Kimkar Dash (1:57.2, eight wins, $NZ122,821).

Aldebaran Park bred three winners for February including Aldebaran Dino (Andover Hall-Aldebaran Maori), a winner at Bendigo in 1:59, a ‘new’ winner in That Other Thing (Aldebaran Eagle-Aldebaran Deegan) and former NZ Oaks winner Aldebaran Floss (Muscle Mass-Another Love), who won in New Zealand.

Our Swedish-based broodmare Aldebaran Bardot (Charly Du Noyer–Aldebaran Teal) has a 14-day positive test to the 2021 Sweden Horse of the Year Calgary Games. Maori Time, who dropped a colt foal by Fourth Dimension recently, has also been served by Calgary Games.

It is with deep sadness that we record the passing of one of the all-time great broodmares in Sundonna, who died peacefully at Aldebaran Park on February 26.

A dual Victorian Broodmare of the Year, Sundonna was the dam of Australasia’s fastest ever trotter and 2018 Sweden Elitloppet runner Maori Time (1:51.5, 24 wins, $421,700) and the Inter Dominion Trotting champion Maori Law (1:58.4, 21 wins, $361,654).

In further news, Aldebaran Park has announced that is continuing its sponsorship of the Port Pirie and Victor Harbour Trotters Cups in South Australia. The winning connections will receive a breeding voucher to Skyvalley.

Aldebaran Zeus (1:52.6) has commenced training and, by the look of him, he’s very happy to be home. He has thrived during his break and we look forward to his racing again in mid-2024.
