Heavens Trend Colt Stallion GuideMeet Harness Breeders Victoria's new cover boy, and his mum of course.

'Simon' and his dam Heavens Trend will feature on the cover of the 2020 IRT Australasian Standardbred Stallion Guide - the 25th edition of the publication.

The photo, submitted by Jaimie-Lee King and taken by Amber Greening of Equine Focus Photography, was selected by popular vote on Facebook over the month of June.

The image was one of six finalists in the annual Search for a Star competition, which attracted a wealth of entries featuring Vicbred eligible foals from the 2019-20 breeding season, with almost 800 fans voting for their favourite cover image. All six finalists can be viewed HERE.

The Captaintreacherous colt is the second foal bred out of Heavens Trend by Bruce and Vicki Edward from Durham Park, south of Ballarat. Heavens Trend (by Rock N Roll Heaven) was an outstanding filly, setting an Australasian age and sex record as a 2YO when she ran 1:52.1 at Menangle in 2015. With the legendary Gavin Lang in the sulky for all but two of her 35 starts, Heavens Trend won on 21 occasions for $385,000 in earnings.

The colt is the second foal for Heavens Trend, the first is a colt by Bettor's Delight, who she is currently in foal to again. Her dam, the Perfect Art mare Trend Setter was no slow pony herself, earning just short of $199,000 in her 35-start career which included a Group 2 victory and a PB mile rate of 1:55.6. Trend Setter threw nine foals in all (eight of them fillies!), five raced and four of those were successful in recording a victory. Unraced half-sister to Heavens Trend, Happy Huntress (Mr Feelgood), has already been successful in the breeding barn, her 2YO Well Said gelding Alex Tee scoring on debut earlier in the season.
