The progeny of numerous top racemares and winner-producing mares will go up for auction at the 2021 Australian Pacing Gold Sale to be held at Oaklands Junction on Sunday, February 7.

Sale graduates will be eligible to compete for $2.2 million in stakes spread across 23 Group races for two and three-year-olds. They are also eligible for the Breeders Crown, Vicbred Super Series and Vicbred Platinum.

Heading the list of champion racemares is Pelicanrama ($730,271), the winner of a record 18 two-year-old races including the 1999 Australian Pacing Gold, NSW Sires Stakes, Pink Bonnet and Tatlow Memorial. She is represented by a colt by world record holder Always B Miki.

Self Denial ($446,069), winner of the APG Final in 2003 as well as the Breeders Crown and Vicbred Super Series, has a filly from the first crop of former USA 2YO Colt of the Year Huntsville nominated for the sale.

Heavens Trend (pictured, $385,683), the winner of the NSW Breeders Challenge at two and the Breeders Crown at four and the former national two-year-old mile record holder, will be represented by her second foal, a colt by Captaintreacherous.

The Queen of the Pacific winner Life Inthefastlane ($264,566), the dam of Solid As A Rock ($178,470) and two other sub 2:00 winners, has a filly by Bettor’s Delight entered in the sale.

Indigenous ($112,245), the dam of Life Inthefastlane and a top racemare in her own right, has a filly by American Ideal that is part of the Homestead Farm draft.

The George Johnson and Stawell Cup winner Mendelico ($188,243) has a brother to the Ballarat Cup winner and Hunter Cup placegetter Heaven Rocks ($554,529) listed in the catalogue.

Other top racemares include Bettor Downunder ($133,906), the American-bred mares Garden Gate Tina ($146,804), Contrapan ($113,879) and Another Day ($120,500), Here Comes Zoe ($113,995), The Baggy Green ($108,700), the Breeders Crown Consolation winner Lynniemach, Ruby Slippers (Vicbred Platinum), the Gold Chalice winner Sparkling Tachyon and Schonbrunn.

The Artsplace mare Trulyawork Of Art, the dam of nine winners including the world champion and Little Brown Jug winner Big Bad John ($1,000,559), is the most successful broodmare in the catalogue.

Indigenous has left eight winners, while Classic Malibu, the dam of the SA Golden Nursery winner Malibu Grin, and Kateeshar, the mother of the APG Consolation victor Arggghhh, have thrown seven winners each.

Bonton Lady, the dam of Stroke Of Luck ($203,698), Pelicanrama, the mother of three $100,000 earners, and Illustrator have all produced six winners.

Among the dams with four winners are the American-bred Ideal Priority, the dam of 2YO and 3YO of the Year Petacular ($454,082; Nosostros, the dam of Stars Align ($463,225), and Red Hot Rita, the mother of the Vicbred champion Im Smouldering ($327,966).

Almost 60 per cent of the 100 dams listed are race winners and more than 50 per cent are winner-producers.
